From 1 July 2013, under the Construction Products Regulation 2011 (CPR), it became mandatory for manufacturers to apply CE marking to any of their products which are covered by a harmonised European standard (hEN) or European Technical Assessment (ETA).
CE marking will affect manufacturers of external doorsets from 1 July 2013 and work is underway on harmonised standards for internal doorsets and fire-rated doorsets.
Do Fire Doors have to be CE marked?
Any door used for external purposes has to be CE marked when sold as a doorset, but because there is currently no harmonised European standard for fire performance, it cannot have a performance declaration for fire.
Internal doors / doorsets do not have to be CE marked at present but will be required when the harmonised standard for doorsets (EN 16034) comes into force.
